So this is our 2nd week back and I am actually pretty happy with how the kids are working. Now don't get me wrong it isn't always smooth sailing, but we are getting along pretty well and the work is getting done.
Last week we started with our themed weeks and we did Circus week. It seems to help the kids get excited about school so you know whatever works we will continue to do. Now everything we did wasn't focused around the circus, but we had little activities that kept them wondering what the next would be, and kept them focused on their other work.
Liberty is working hard and doing well. In math she is working on multiplication. I think she enjoys them way more than she does addition and subtraction. In Science she just finished up with a test today and will be starting on a new chapter. Today was a busy test day for her, she also had one in Heritage studies. I usually don't like having her take test on Monday, but since we took our unexpected field trip on last Thursday to the zoo it kinda worked out that way. In English she has just finished a chapter in writing and is now review nouns, proper nouns and singular and plural nouns. It has been a lot of book work here lately, but we have some experiments coming up, that I will be sure to share when we do them.
Teyla she is a smarty, but she doubts herself, so I continually have to encourage her and show her that she can do it. She is a really good reader, but again she doubts herself so I need to help build her confidence. I am working on that. In math she is working on tens and ones place value and expanded form. She has been having problems with expanded form, but today a light clicked on and she figured it all out. It was a very exciting moment. Teyla also took two test today, and will be starting new chapters in Science and Heritage studies.
Landon is doing well in school, he is a little smart one too. He does his work mostly in the afternoon. I don't have a structure curriculum with him, but I truly believe he could be doing Kindergarten work and actually graduate Kindergarten this year. He doesn't want too, and since he is only 4, I am not going to push the issue. He will do Kindergarten next year at the time he would if he was in public school, and I'm sure he will excel.
